Pantone® matching between psd and indd

18 Mar

Okay, this is a little tip I just learned from the InDesign Secrets blog (which is great, fyi.) I have this problem all the time within CS. My Pantone colors in InDesign and Photoshop don’t match! I will use Photoshop for one aspect of my project, then have to use InDesign for another using the same swatch and the colors are completely different! I finally figured out how to fix this irksome problem.

In InDesign, go to your print menu, click on the “Output.” then click on “Ink Manager.”

When your “Ink Manager” comes up, check the box next to “Use Standard Lab Values for Spots.”  Now you can “Cancel” out of the print menu.

You will notice immediately in your Swatches Palette the Pantone colors show a Lab Color icon instead of the 4-color icon earlier.

Hope this helps someone else out there! Here is the original post from InDesign Secrets!
