Herbs

1 Nov

Finally, we got herbs! Everytime we go grocery shopping, which is frequently, we end up buying tons of herbs, but can’t use them all and then to the trash they go. Well not anymore! Our baby herbs are a groin’.

We were down at Wildseed Farms outside Fredricksburg and I decided it was the day to get the herbs. So off we go with Basil, Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, Cilantro, Parsley, and Thyme.

Also, I attempted to buy pretty white pots for them at Ikea…but they didn’t work. So we just ended up getting the terra cotta pots you see in the pics.

Thanks, Rog, for the pics!

Flip!

4 May

I love walking around West Elm w/ Cali girl in tow (they allow dogs!!!) and getting ideas forĀ  our new place. Well I ended up buying, actually Roger had to buy it b/c I didn’t have my wallet with me, wah wah… Anyway, we ended up getting “Flip! for decorating”.

I think it has some great tips on how to design any room in the house and to arrange. She goes through each room (living, dining, bedroom, and family) step by step on arrangement, paint color, hanging pictures, curtains, etc…

Oh and yes it is a flip book, too!

Here is another post from Design-Milk about this fantastic book.

So depressing that I’m over here putting stuff away and packing rather than decorating. Ahhhh a little over 2 weeks to go!

Fabric Search (part deux)

17 Mar

The fabric search has resumed. I was trying to take a break from it and maybe the perfect fabric would come to me, but alas, not so much!

So, today I found this cute chevron pattern from Premier Fabrics. I really am liking the black and white, but there is also this pretty blue/natural.

The great thing about these are that they are only $7.99/yd., compared to the fabric I have looked at, $25/yd., this is a steal! Also, I can change this if I get sick of it (not that I ever would,) where as the others were much more of an investment. I will keep you posted on my decision!

@home workspace

23 Feb

I am finally getting my workspace at home to be some what complete. I’ll try to post a pic tonight or tomorrow of it all together, but here are some pics of the items I used. Also I have the cart from the previous post in there right now with my printers. Hopefully all this will get the creative juices flowin’!

New Skirt for my Printer Cart

23 Feb

So I saw this post from Little Green Notebook a few weeks ago and decided to try it on my old white boring printer cart. I figured it would be a good test run and if that was a success I would continue and make a pretty cover for my Cali girl’s kennel.

I went to Joann’s Fabric and got this great heavy canvas like gray fabric ($6.99/yd.) Also, I bought blue ribbon for detail (I’ll post more pictures of the fabric and ribbon later) and the fabric glue.

Patience is the keyword in this project. It only took about an hour and a half to create but I definitely had to not get in a hurry. Since I do not cut the straightest edges I had to make sure to measure the middle of the panel, rather than 2 inches on one side or other because I could be a 1/4 inch off sometimes. Also, when I measured it, it was on wood floors, well I moved it into my carpeted bedroom and now it is about and 1 inch too long. So definitely have it where you want it before you measure.

Well I think it was a good learning lesson and I will be off to Joann’s this weekend to get more fabric for Cali’s kennel.

Hope you enjoyed and definitely let me know if you have any questions!

I want!

4 Feb

So I was snooping around some of the usual blogs I read and I ran into this amazing gem. I want it. I want it now. I don’t care, how, but I WANT IT! They are all beautiful and I would be more than thrilled to have any of them.

Amy Butler Rug

Who knew this girl made rugs too! So enjoy drooling at these amazing pieces of art. I’m thinking this is definitely an investment piece… Right? Right? RIGHT?

I thought so. :)

Enjoy!

Done!

7 Jan

foo dogs, originally uploaded by rll1980.

We finally finished painting the Foo Dogs (3 mos. later…) and I lovers the orange!
FYI, they definitely needed priming before the orange spray paint went on them. Otherwise the paint just starts to just bubble up (yes, this does come from experience, I might have got too anxious and some primer may not have gotten on one of their bellies.)
Anyway, once patience and time were appreciated the pups came out looking alright!
