Fabric Seach (part trois)

26 Apr

I think the search has come to a close. I finally feel like I have decided on a fabric and am happy with the choice.

Now it’s time for the great reveal….

Da dada daaaaa….

A white leather, but not leather, pleather, I believe. I found it at Joann’s fabric. I think it is the best option and now that we’re moving, the chairs are moving to the office rather than the living room, which has a more mid-century feel. I am so excited and once we move, I’m going to buy the fabric and began the reupholster project! Which, of course, I’ll keep you updated, along the way, promise.

What do y’all think? Good choice?

Here are some images I have been saving for inspiration that are similar to my chairs.

New digs around the corner!

25 Apr

So Rogelio and I got a new place and I can’t wait to move! We start the lease on the 15th of May, but aren’t moving till the last weekend of the month. We have lots of  to do before we move in like painting and cleaning.

Here are some floor plans of the bedroom, office, and living/dining room I created (not to scale.)

The one down fall is that there is not a lot of storage. We are going to have to be very organized and streamlined, so I am going through my stuff right now and trying to get rid of as much as possible, which unfortunately means clothes, too.

Here are a few pics of the place.

We are deciding on paint colors right now, but I think we’ll be going with a light grey for the office and living/dining, and bright clean white for the bathroom and kitchen, since they have the original blue and yellow tiles. The bedroom is going to be a deep rich dark blue and have white and dark wood stain with bronze accents. I’ll definitely post pictures as we progress!

New Skirt for my Printer Cart

23 Feb

So I saw this post from Little Green Notebook a few weeks ago and decided to try it on my old white boring printer cart. I figured it would be a good test run and if that was a success I would continue and make a pretty cover for my Cali girl’s kennel.

I went to Joann’s Fabric and got this great heavy canvas like gray fabric ($6.99/yd.) Also, I bought blue ribbon for detail (I’ll post more pictures of the fabric and ribbon later) and the fabric glue.

Patience is the keyword in this project. It only took about an hour and a half to create but I definitely had to not get in a hurry. Since I do not cut the straightest edges I had to make sure to measure the middle of the panel, rather than 2 inches on one side or other because I could be a 1/4 inch off sometimes. Also, when I measured it, it was on wood floors, well I moved it into my carpeted bedroom and now it is about and 1 inch too long. So definitely have it where you want it before you measure.

Well I think it was a good learning lesson and I will be off to Joann’s this weekend to get more fabric for Cali’s kennel.

Hope you enjoyed and definitely let me know if you have any questions!

Done!

7 Jan

foo dogs, originally uploaded by rll1980.

We finally finished painting the Foo Dogs (3 mos. later…) and I lovers the orange!
FYI, they definitely needed priming before the orange spray paint went on them. Otherwise the paint just starts to just bubble up (yes, this does come from experience, I might have got too anxious and some primer may not have gotten on one of their bellies.)
Anyway, once patience and time were appreciated the pups came out looking alright!

foo dogs

So I bought these little guys (Fu dogs) at TJ Maxx last week, but didn’t quite want to go with the b/w theme, so I bought some orange spray paint and primer for a little face lift.

In the end I want them to resemble this, at only half the cost and a little work.

I will post the “after” photos (which will be much clearer) once it stops raining and I can finish them up!
