Pinterest please.

My new favorite site is Pinterest. It is the perfect place for me to collect and organize all my inspiration and yearning in one spot! I see so many pretty things everyday that it gets a bit overwhelming, but Pinterest lets me organize all my lust in one spot! And, I think we all know how OCD I tend to be… so now my OCD can go viral!

I’m totally not getting paid to do this but I guess I am bit excited about organizing, ha…

Herbs

1 Nov

Finally, we got herbs! Everytime we go grocery shopping, which is frequently, we end up buying tons of herbs, but can’t use them all and then to the trash they go. Well not anymore! Our baby herbs are a groin’.

We were down at Wildseed Farms outside Fredricksburg and I decided it was the day to get the herbs. So off we go with Basil, Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, Cilantro, Parsley, and Thyme.

Also, I attempted to buy pretty white pots for them at Ikea…but they didn’t work. So we just ended up getting the terra cotta pots you see in the pics.

Thanks, Rog, for the pics!

Drapes

30 Sep

So this weekend, I think I am going to take the first steps to begin sewing my first set of lined drapes! We have the same white duck cloth as we used for the headboard that I’ll use for the drapes, plus a liner to make sure the sun isn’t shining in my eyes at 7 am every weekend. Oh man, I can’t wait.

I was thinking I should maybe do some pinch pleats but, maybe for the living room. I think I need to start off with just a basic lined curtain for the bedroom.

But, here are some pretty pinch pleats curtains for you to gawk at till I make mine…

Guru Chairs Return

12 Sep

Well I thought I decided to reupholster them in the white “leather” but after seeing this on Design Sponge, my mind has definitely changed. And they are charging $1400 for the chair. My makeover is planning to be on a budget.

I think the pink will go great with the green couch, we have. So I think that is the new direction we are going to go with the chairs. But only after a few other projects get completed. The never ending to do list… wah wah

I posted pics of the living room in the post about our gallery wall, but here it is again to refresh your memory. You can see the chairs flank the green couch.

So many projects in such a small space! ;)

Bedroom update

11 Sep

Two Sundays ago, Rog and I decided to finally take the plunge and make the headboard for the bedroom. We have been talking about for months, so we spent the afternoon shopping and putting it together.

Next on the agenda are the curtains. They will go from the ceiling to the floor and are the same material, white duck cloth, as the headboard. That will begin after the sewing class, though. :)

The nightstands we created from Aubrey & Lindsay’s blog. It was an über easy project and affordable!

The bedding we got on clearance at Pottery  Barn outlet and the duvet cover (at the end of the bed) was $15 at Target. Woo.

Dining Room Table

10 Sep

Hola!

I have taken the week off! Rog & I headed up to the midwest (Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri) for a wedding and to hang out with the parents. Now that I am back in ATX, I thought I should knock out a few projects. First at stake, the dining room table. I bought the mid century table and chairs for $80 at a thrift store up in Georgetown, a few years ago. I recovered the chair cushions but never got around to actually fixing the wobbly chairs and restaining all the chairs and the table. So, I have stripped the table and restained it today! The chairs are next on the agenda.

I am horrible at taking the “before” and “during” photos, so here are the “after” of the table. I still need to do the leaf and the 4 chairs.

I used a water-based stain, since oil is too much prep and cleanup. Apparently, water-based stains are nearly impossible to find these days. I used it previously for the credenza below, a few years ago, but now it was a headache to find the right color.

Once again, another project, that I will post once it is completed! haha oh the projects!

Gallery Wall in Progress

9 Sep

We decided to create a gallery wall in our living room. It has definitely been a work in progress since we moved in. No problem buying the frames and hanging, it was the actual printing out pictures and putting them in the frames that took the extra 2.5 months to do.

I have read numerous tutorials on how to hang a gallery wall, but what ended up working best for us was just starting with a base (the 4 aligned above the couch) and worked our way out from there.
Here is what we have so far:

We still have about 10 or so (small 2×3 frames) to hang and, if you notice, there are still a few empty frames that we need to print pictures for.

So once we have all the pictures inserted and are hung, I will post the final product! Stay tuned (in another 3 mos. :) , jk, I hope…)

Disclaimer: There are a lot of other little things that need to be completed in here, too, rug, curtains, recover “guru” chairs, etc…

My 30th Birthday present!

23 Aug

This year it was the big one. The first milestone after you hit 21, the big 3-0. And for that I got very “mature” gifts (that I requested, of course), a sewing machine from the padres, and sewing classes from the Rog. I am super excited about both and can’t wait to get started. So many projects, so little time. First on the agenda is curtains for the bedroom, along with an upholstered headboard. After that who knows what I’ll start sewing.

Here are a few pics of the new beauty!

Here are some remnant fabrics I bought the other day. The pink/peach on the bottom is an Italian linen, not sure if pillows are going to be made or something for me to wear… Decisions, decisions.

I start class on September 11, so we will see how the first class goes! They are evening classes on Saturday nights, that what people in their 30′s do right? Totally JK

I’ll post some pics of the projects once they are complete!
